Agreement signed to promote Aeromodelling
FAME, the marketing arm of the FAI, the World Air Sports Federation has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM), during the 2013 CIAM Annual Meeting held Friday, April, 20th.
FAME, the FAI Sports Marketing and Events Company, was formed in 2012 to work with the FAI Air Sport Commissions to help them develop, market and produce innovative sports events aimed at promoting aviation sports to the public.
The CIAM is the world body responsible for the sport of aeromodelling. The CIAM conducts FAI’s aeromodelling and spacemodelling activities, in particular World Records and International Competitions.
Antonis Papadopoulos, President of the CIAM said: "As CIAM President I am very pleased to start the cooperation with FAME. It is really important for CIAM to launch this project since it will offer many new opportunities to make our activity more interesting for the public and more attractive for the participants. FAME expertise will guide us to develop new events the way the public and the sponsors are looking for, rather than using existing ones and trying to adjust them."
The Memorandums of Understanding allow sport bodies to work with FAME to create project teams, with financial backing, to facilitate the creation and presentation of their specialist events. FAME will provide the marketing, promotion and support for these events as well as facilitate the opportunity for sponsors to benefit from being associated with the events.
Giancarlo Sergi, the CEO of FAME, sees the signing of this third Memorandum of Understanding as an additional opportunity to enter a new era in aviation sports world-wide: "The synergies between the expertise of the FAI sports commissions and the marketing strength of FAME are exciting and I look forward to being able to assist the CIAM in the creation of new series of events".
