Day 2: Speed Setting Schedule
Today has been set aside for official training and speed setting flights, followed by the taking of the team and individual photographs. Throughout the tunnel complex preparations are in full swing to ensure the competition runs both smoothly and efficiently. The organisers have set themselves the task to have a virtually paperless competition, with all information relating to the day's activities being displayed on screens around the tunnel, as well as being available on their dedicated WISC2017 App, which they have encouraged all athletes to download.
Jurate Janusauskiene, FS Chief Judge, can be seen here (L) briefing some of her panel, along with Brian Cole and his colleague, Michelle Matte Stotyn, who are in charge of setting up and managing the InTime scoring equipment.

The rest of today's schedule is set to centre around the Opening Ceremony which is timed to take place at 18.00hrs in the Cinéplex Cinema next door to the tunnel, following cessation of the official training flights at 16.30hrs. Such precise scheduling is at the heart of indoor skydiving with no weather-holds nor aircraft downtime to hinder the flow of the meet.
The Opening Ceremony was held in one of the 200+ seater cinemas and whilst it was a slick, low-keyed affair, it adequately identified the athletes by simply being asked to stand when their country's name and disciplines were shown on the vast cinema screen.
Following the playing of the FAI anthem, with the flag displayed on a moveable stand, the formalites began with a very brief welcome being made by Alain Guérin, CEO of Skyventure. He was followed by the IPC President, Dr "Exi" Rainer Hoenle who not only echoed Alain Guérin's sentiments in welcoming everyone but went on to repeat his message in French. Having declared the Championships open, our commentator Regan Tetlow, introduced the two Chief Judges to the audience, where each in turn called their panel members to the front of the auditorium. The Jury panel of Karla Cole (President), Doris Mertz and Randy Connell were similarly presented to the audience. Catherine and Melanie of the Organiser's Committee brought the proceedings to an end by emphasising the need to wear the formal registration ID badge in order to use the shuttle buses, suggested staggering lunch times and pointing out that their mobile app had all the relevant information they would require to be well informed.
The FS and EA draws were now to be made within the tunnel complex and not at the cinema as first noted. The subsequent draws are as follows:
