FAI General Conference 2022 to take place online
The 116th FAI General Conference, scheduled from 1st to 3rd November 2022, will take place online.
The event was originally planned to be organised by FAI Member the Aero Sports Federation of China (ASFC) and the Wuhan Municipal Government in Wuhan. However, the continuing uncertainties posed by the pandemic led the FAI Executive Board, in agreement with ASFC, to reconsider and opt for a virtual event.
“The best interests of ASFC, our Members and Officials are at the forefront of this decision. We took into consideration the global travel difficulties caused by the pandemic and the necessity to provide FAI stakeholders with an early decision,” FAI President David Monks said. “On behalf of the FAI, I warmly thank ASFC for their efforts in preparing the hosting of the FAI General Conference and for their willingness to find the best solution for everyone. We hope our Chinese friends will wish to host the Conference soon.”
ASFC President Jia Bing said: “After much deliberation and discussion, we have concluded that the ongoing pandemic situation means that conditions are not appropriate for us to invite our friends from across the world to Wuhan for the FAI General Conference. We propose, therefore, that the FAI Executive Board holds the event online in 2022. We at the ASFC hope that we will be able to host the Conference in the near future.”
