FAI President and Secretary General meet IOC President to discuss air sports
FAI President Dr. John Grubbström and FAI Secretary General Susanne Schödel were recently invited to meet International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach (pictured in middle) at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss current developments in air sports, their place in the Olympic movement and FAI's involvement in the "Olympic Agenda 2020".
Dr. John Grubbström commented: “It was an honour for us to be received by Thomas Bach; our discussion was fruitful, and we look forward to continuing the cooperation with the IOC Sports Department.”
During the meeting, the FAI President pointed out the popularity of air sports, especially among young people, and how accessible they have become. Air sports are now a natural part of outdoor activities, giving young people a sound base for their personal and professional development.
He also underlined the necessity of getting young people "out of the sofa". Air sports give them an exciting, modern and safe alternative to more traditional sports.
