Opening Ceremony: FAI World Championships for Electric Powered Thermal Duration Gliders
The 2025 FAI F5J World Championships for Electric Powered Thermal Duration Gliders have officially kicked off in Argentina, with good weather conditions promising some excellent performances during the week of competition flights.
The World Championships is being held in Cordoba, Argentina from 2-8 March, hosted by the Argentine Aeromodelling Federation, and represents a significant moment in aeromodelling, highlighting South America's importance on the world stage.
The competition flights will take place at a military airfield used for skydiving training. Organisers have ensured that facilities will provide plenty of space for the teams, with large tents to protect from the late summer sun.

“I would like to welcome all the participants. For the FAI Aeromodelling Commission, it is really important that a World Championship is taking place in South America. It is going to be a very challenging competition with preliminary and final rounds taking place all week. Weather is expected to be good and this will benefit the performance of all competitors. I wish all of them the best of luck!”
