A sky filled with colour at the LeaseWeb Texel Airshow 2018!
Thousands of people descended on Texel, the largest of the Wadden Islands in North Holland, the Netherlands, to attend the Leaseweb Texel Airshow 2018 this weekend.
Held on Saturday August 4, the colourful event sponsored by official FAI partner Leaseweb involved a diverse mix of contemporary, historical, military and civil aircraft hailing from the 1930s to the present day.
This year’s display told the story of aviation over the last almost 100 years and was preceded by a fascinating static show involving most of the aircraft and pilots taking part.
Local skydiving stars Paracentrum Texel opened the show, which also included a flyby by the Royal Netherlands Air Force KDC-10 flanked by two F16s of the Belgian Air Force.
The Breitling Jet Team, the Czech Air Force, a number of Red Bull aircraft, and the Dutch Thunder Yaks were just some of the other participants on site to make the 2018 show a thrilling success.
All in all, it was a stunning display of aviation across the years – despite some poor weather later in the day.
Running since 1980, the event is held every three years, so if you missed the 2018 edition, you have until 2021 to plan your trip to Texel for the next air show!
